The muchly anticipated follow-up to Chris's 2000 release on Death Valley 'Replacement' and Emperor Jones label release 'Map Ends: 1995-2001 CD (EJ 47, released March 2002) 'Bad Orchestra' is ten new compositions recorded between November 2005 and May 2006 featuring Chris on Guitars, Piano, Organ, Drums, Tapes, and vocals and a host of friends in tow from Justin Fuller (with whom Chris has just released a new CD on the local Sweat Lung Label which is available for sale now (info below), Alex Jarvis, Warwick Brown (ex: Sunset Strip, No Man's Land, etc..). This is a bold step forward from one of Melbourne's most original and innovative guitar improv musicians, who ups the ante and builds meandering layers of all engulfing sound, from dynamic feedback to darker atmospheric rumbles to crystalline movements of steady woven sonic interplay to transport and temper you through his momentous journey. We think Chris is worth his weight in gold & remains one of Australia's most interesting underground players & performers, and this CD is another striking document of someone who has that unique ability to kick the listener off into sujacent surrounds full of cavernous sound curveballs.
